Coin Tavern Coin Archetype Tier List
Rank coin roles — not fake named inventories — from S to C with criteria that shift when Steam patches land.
This page ranks coin archetypes by role in Coin Tavern — the kinds of effects you want in a deck — not a fabricated checklist of every coin name in the full release. Shops randomize offers; the July 2026 Steam launch expanded the pool beyond the demo’s roughly ninety coins. Use tiers when a coin appears and you need to know whether it fits your engine, pacer line, or cut pile.
All bands are community-informed opinions. Rankings shift with patches when Woven Dream Isle rebalance payouts, tags, or flip rules. After Steam news, read What’s New before treating launch tiers as permanent.
Tier Criteria
S-tier roles define runs: they scale with relics, repeat well in thin decks, or multiply flip count reliably.
A-tier roles are strong contributors you actively shop toward once an engine exists.
B-tier roles are situational — excellent with specific relics or cross-faction pairs, weak otherwise.
C-tier roles are usually cuts: slow payoffs, anti-synergy baggage, or strict conditions you cannot meet this run.
S-Tier Archetypes
Multi-Flip Engines
Coins that add jumps, reflips, or extra flip actions belong here when they trigger other coins reliably. Often Machine-leaning but cross-faction engines exist. Pair with flip-extending relics from Relic Archetype tiers. See How to Combo for execution.
Debt Pacers (Early)
Low-variance income coins that stabilize the first two targets. Not flashy, but they prevent run-ending misses while you assemble engines. Core to Economy Builds.
A-Tier Archetypes
Cross-Faction Bridges
Coins whose tags and effects reward mixing Humans, Monsters, Beasts, and Machines — for example, payoff on mixed-faction flips or scaling when another tag is present. Power jumps when relics agree; without support they drop toward B-tier.
Scaling Growth Pieces
Often Beast-associated roles that gain value across flips or duplicates. Need time and flip count; weak if deck is bloated.
Relic Amplifier Payoffs
Coins that trigger bonus effects when relic conditions fire — extra gold per relic-owned rule, on destroy, or on chain completion. Tier rises with matching relic drafts.
B-Tier Archetypes
One-Shot Spike Payoffs
High ceiling when heads or a chain connects; weak floor when variance misses. Monster-leaning spikes fit here unless relics add reflips.
Shop and Ticket Synergy
Coins that reward spending tickets or hammers. Strong in Human shop lines from Cross-Faction Builds; dead if shops are sparse this run.
Conditional Setup Coins
Powerful if setup coin survives to payoff; weak if deck size or flip order fails. Skill and deck knowledge dependent.
C-Tier Archetypes
Dead Weight and Strict Brick Coins
Coins with no synergy, anti-synergy with your relics, or payout conditions you cannot meet before the debt target deadline. Cut when hammers allow.
Late-Only Scaling Without Time
Growth that needs more stages than you have before the next target spike. Skip unless already ahead on math.
Faction Tags vs Roles
Faction color is not tier. A Machine coin can be C-tier brick or S-tier engine depending on text. Judge offered coins against your plan from Best Builds and the Deck Planner.

Patch Discipline
When community reports move an archetype, wait for Steam confirmation when possible. Demo-era impressions already differ from full release pools. Documented changes belong on Updates; tier pages update after verification.
Coin tier thinking beats memorization. Ask each shop offer: Does this raise my average gold per round toward the target? Does it multiply flips? Does it bridge factions my relics reward? If three nos, it is probably C-tier for this run.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Why doesn't this list every coin name?
Shop offers are randomized and the pool is large. Role-based tiers stay useful even when you never see the same coin twice.
Are S-tier coin roles always pickable?
Pick them when they match your engine or pacer plan. An S-tier engine coin is wrong if you still lack baseline income for the next target.
Do tiers differ between demo and release?
Yes. The full release adds coins beyond the demo pool. Rankings here target launch-era community consensus and shift with patches.
How do relics change coin tiers?
Relics that extend flips or reward tags can promote B-tier payoffs to A-tier. Mismatch demotes amplifier coins to cuts.
Where are build-level tiers?
See the Build Strategy Tier List for full-run archetypes built from these coin roles.
